Bittersweet's House Hokkaido Cakes

I was recently introduced to a homemade bakery with an interesting name, Bittersweet’s House. The bakery whips up really good Hokkaido cakes; soft, airy and fluffy chiffon cakes filled with creamy custard. They are best eaten when chilled and I just couldn’t have enough of them.

Bittersweet’s House also sell freshly made cream puffs. I like the slightly crispy puff shell filled with smooth silky fresh custard combined with cream. There a few flavours to choose from: Original, Strawberry, Coffee, Green Tea, Durian and Sweet Corn. I have only tried the Original and Strawberry flavours and will recommend the former, anytime.

Crepe cakes are also their specialty but I have yet to try.

Contact Shirlyn at 012-4305095 to order three days in advance. I think they do delivery within the Butterworth and Autocity areas but do contact Shirlyn for more info.

Deluxcious All You Can Eat Lunch Buffet

Deluxious which has long been synonymous to its ‘spa cuisine’ has now spread its wings and is now a boutique hotel cum spa and restaurant. It took over the colonial bungalow next door and transformed it into a charming 18-room boutique hotel.

Its newly refurbished restaurant has also introduced an All-You-Can-Eat ala-carte style buffet at RM39.90+ since 30th September 2011. The appetizers, soup and desserts are served at the buffet line but you can order any entrée and as many as you want from the menu. The entrees are served in smaller tasting portion so you can try the different dishes the restaurant has to offer, which include a variety of pasta, chicken, beef, lamb, seafood, fish and Asian specialties.

The restaurant was enjoying brisk business on the Sunday we went for buffet lunch and thus a little short-handed. Nevertheless, the kitchen was very fast to turn around our orders. It would be nice if they could at least serve water at the table vs. the buffet line but the food served was really good so we were quick to dismiss the minor inconveniences.

Despite the buffet style, we were served with very fine and good quality food. All of us were awed by the flavours and freshness of the ingredients served. Hats off to Deluxious for coming up with such creative ideas and especially so for such great culinary delights.

Hard Rock Hotel Penang Rock Star Suite

I am quite sure Hard Rock Hotel Penang needs no introduction but wait till you see what's in store at the one and only Rock Star Suite at this hip and happening hotel in Batu Ferringhi.

The contemporary and stylish suite combines a private living and dining area with one bedroom. Space is abundance in this suite which includes a walk-in wardrobe, two bathrooms and a kitchenette.

Just like everywhere else in the hotel, the Rock Star Suite of no exception when it comes to the hotel's rock culture and idolism. The walls in the suite is adorned with memorabilias, photos and personal items belonging to famous music personalities of the past and present.

All rooms and suites come with a 32-inch LCD screen HD Ready TV with satellite channels, DVD/CD players, iPod docking station and wired and wireless internet access.

Guests staying at the Rock Star Suite will enjoy full Kings Club privileges with access to the Kings Club Lounge, a collection of premium room amenities in the room and daily turndown service. Boy was I bowled over by the amount of gourmet food they fed us at the Kings Club Lounge.

We could choose to enjoy a quiet morning breakfast at the lounge instead of the Starz Diner or Pizzeria. We were practically eating round the clock as we couldn't resist the delectable scones, cakes, pastries, tarlets and sandwiches served for afternoon tea, followed by canapés and cocktail while watching the sun setting.

We stayed at the Rock Star Suite for two nights so on the 2nd morning, we had breakfast at Pizzeria instead. Located by the poolside, the Pizzeria serves Italian food including lip smacking pizzas.

Like they say in their website, Hard Rock Hotel Penang is all about the experience and I can't agree more. I will have the photos speak for themselves.

The hotel houses the largest free-form pool in Northern Malaysia. Kids (and adults alike) will love the water slides. For those who want a little privacy amidst all the fun and action, reserve a private cabana, a recent addition to the hotel.

The Body Rock gym boasts a stunning poolside view thus making exercising all the more fun.

The Teens Club is equipped with pool tables, foosball and a variety of electronic game stations.

If you have kids aged 4 to 12 years old, don't fret if you need to keep them occupied while you go for a dip in the pool or a massage. They will love the Lil' Rock Kids Club.

Head on to Hard Rock Hotel Penang for a rockin' fun holiday.
