Singapore Geylang Lor 9 Fresh Frog Porridge in Penang

Frogs' legs are one of the better-known delicacies of French and Cantonese cuisine. They are also eaten in other regions, such as the Caribbean, the region of Alentejo, in Portugal, northwest Greece, Piemonte in Italy, Spain and the Midwest southern regions of the United States. A type of frog called the edible frog is most often used for this dish. They are often said to taste like chicken because of their mild flavor, with a texture most similar to chicken wings. A friend introduced hubs to this place which specializes in Frog Porridge. It is the 2nd outlet in Malaysia after Johor Bahru. It has only been opened for about 6 months, since November last year.

Their signature is the Dried Chili (Gongbao or Kung Po) Frog Leg. The smooth and tender frog leg was cooked with dried chili and spring onions and served in a claypot, which was excellent in retaining the heat. We ordered Plain Porridge which also had a smooth texture and was great eaten with the Dried Chili Frog Leg and its gravy. We also ordered the Fried Hong Kong Cabbage, Omelet with Preserved Radish (chai por nui) and another pot of Frog Porridge which was plain porridge cooked with frog.

Plain Porridge (Medium - RM3)
Dried Chili Frog Leg (RM20)

Fried Hong Kong Cabbage (RM10)

Frog Porridge (RM10)

Omelet with Preserved Radish (RM6)

Merlion

The next time we are there, we will try their Spring Onion Frog Leg and Deep Fried Sliced Garlic Frog Leg.

The establishment which is from Singapore already has brances in Malaysia, Indonesia, China and Taiwan.
