Maa Roy Thai Seafood Restaurant recently opened another sister restaurant at Kristal Point. Their other restaurant is at Aboo Sitee Lane. The joint-owners, Patricia and Palita are both Thai nationals and so are the chefs, so I guess you can count on the authenticity of the Thai food served here.
Restaurant decor and setting
This is touted as their signature dish and I can imagine why. The lemon sauce was sour and a bit spicy and sweet at the same time. It also had an abundance of chopped garlic.
Otak Otak (Fish Paste) in Coconut
The Kerabu Mango salad was very fresh with a generous amount of cashew nuts.
Sambal KangkungThe kangkung was a bit 'old'.
Stir Fried Kailan with Salted Fish
The deep fried squid was a good choice. The squid was crispy with the right amount of salt and pepper, thus not too salty.
Green Curry Chicken
The Green Curry Chicken was served in a steamboat pot thus retaining the heat. It was very fragrant and aromatic with the right amount of coconut milk and kaffir lime leaves.
The restaurant only serves one dessert which is Sweet Potato, Red Bean and Barley with Coconut Milk. According to the owner, this Southern Thai dessert is rarely sold in Penang and Maa Roy is probably the only restaurant on the island that has it. However, we still preferred our good ol' Tab Tim Krob which is available here upon special request in advance.
The total bill came to around RM256.

Any ideas if they serve set lunch / dinner ?
Yes, I remember they do have set lunch, and it is pretty affordable too.
