Strada Restaurant & Patisserie

Strada is a fairly new restaurant in Pulau Tikus, whipping up primarily Western cuisine.

The thing I liked most about the restaurant is the comfortable and contemporary setting. The slow music they play in the background also enhanced the ambiance (they were playing Norah Jones songs when we were there).

P/S: All pictures are taken with a mobile phone camera

It was 5:30 pm and we didn't feel very hungry so we opted for one set dinner to share. We went for the Exclusive Set Dinner at RM45.

Crab Cake with Orange Vinaigrette Salad
The orange vinaigrette dressing is quite light but the crab cake was a bit hard, not sure if it was thawed completely.

Manhattan Clam Chowder

I think I was in the mood for a thicker New England clam chowder that day but this Manhattan version is quite okay.

Baked ‘Catch of the Day’ (Sole Fish) with Cilantro Sauce

I liked the mashed potato (P/S: You can also opt for Beef Bourguignon Or Grilled Lamb Loin with Coriander Sauce)

Dessert (We upgraded our dessert to Tiramisu at an additional RM5.80)

The Tiramisu was good and worth the additional RM5.80

Overall it was a good dining experience. I would recommend this restaurant for a relaxed and quiet dinner.

They also serve set lunch from RM16.95 onwards including Soup of the Day or Salad, Dessert, Coffee, Tea or Ice Lemon Tea.

There is a tie-in with Citibank credit card now for an afternoon tea set including a slice of cake with coffee or tea at RM9.90.

It's also good to note that they bake all their breads in-house.

Mother's Day Special

With Mother's Day just around the corner, I have received the following promotional materials from Traders Hotel and Strada Restaurant & Patisserie respectively.

I have tried the semi-buffet at The Brasserie on a separate private occasion and I have to say it was a great dining experience and really worth it.

I have also recently tried the daily set dinner at Strada and definitely loved the ambiance. Watch this space for my post on Strada soon.

The Golden Triangle IndoChine Restaurant

The Golden Triangle in Queensbay Mall is a restaurant serving Thai, Laotian and Vietnamese food. As mentiond in their website, their chefs are all from Thailand, Laos and Vietnam so you can be rest assured of the authenticity of the food served here. It also has another outlet at the Juru Auto City in Penang and one at Solaris Mont Kiara in KL.

The interior of the restaurant exudes a rustic and elegant feel and is perfect for meals in a business setting. The food was excellent and very full of flavours.

Honey Dew and Watermelon Juice

We opted for the special promotion set meals at RM26.70+ per set. There are six special sets to choose from.

Bangkok Special
Choo Chee Prawns with Bun, Mango Salad, Thap Thim Krop

The Choo Chee Prawns dish is a must try. The prawns gravy was very thick, fragrant and lemak and went very well with the deep fried mini bun. The mango salad was very fresh. Thap Thim Frop is my all-time favourite Thai dessert and Golden Triangle has not failed me.

Indochine Special
Tom Yam Udon Soup (we requested to swap with Bee Hoon), Yam Cake, Rice Cracker with Minced Chicken Dipping, Thap Thim Krop

This is another higly recommended set. The Tom Yam Bee Hoon was very flavourful, spicy and sour enough for our taste. At first the minced chicken dip didn't look too appetising but it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. It was very fragrant and full of flavours with Thai fish sauce and lots of fresh coriander. The rice crackers were a great accompaniment to the chicken dip.

They have have other value-for-money promotions e.g. the "Eat All You Can" promotion at RM45+ per pax. This promotion is valid for dine-in from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm only with a minimum of 2 pax. Ask within for terms and conditions.

Jiufen Pedestrian Street Food

If there is one place that I will remember for its street food then it will be Taipei. There is the street food at the Shih Lin Night Market and now the street food at Jiufen.

The sheer amount and variety of food is enough to excite any street food enthusiast visiting this pedestrian street.

Local non-food products and souvenirs are also sold at the Jiufen pedestrian street.

Jogoya Taipei

When I was in Taipei in December last year, I took the opportunity to dine at the Jogoya flagship store in Taipei (http://www.jogoya.com.tw/taipei.html)

The Japanese buffet dining concept is similar to its branch in Kuala Lumpur. Oddly enough, I still feel that Jogoya KL has more extensive buffet spread than it's original restaurant in Taipei.

Some photos of Taipei:

P/S: Air Asia now flies direct from KL to Taipei five times weekly :)

Taipei Shilin Night Market

The Shilin Night Market is often rendered as the largest and most famous night market in Taipei.

This night market is undoubtedly the best I have seen so far, in terms of the variety of street food available.
