Ole Cafe, Tune Hotel LCCT

Ole Cafe is one of the food outlets at Tune Hotel LCCT.

I ordered Tuna Melt and the Ole Special Teh Tarik. The total bill came to about RM18.

The Tuna Melt came with tuna and mayonaisse, lettuce, tomato and cheese. It is served hot and good for a quick grub.

Unfortunately I couldn't find anything special about the Ole Special Teh Tarik. I ordered the iced version so it was too diluted from all the ice.

The good thing is they are open 24 hours so it was convenient for the Tune Hotel guests. The next nearest food outlets are at LCCT which is a 7 to 10 minute walk away (apart from Passage Thru Asia which is located inside the Tune Hotel)

Hui Wei Restaurant

Hui Wei is a fairly new restaurant, opened since three months ago. It is right opposite the SRJKC Union. They serve primarily set meals, dim sum and steamboat. It is a small restaurant with minimal decor but is cozy and clean.

We were the first customers to arrive at the restaurant for lunch. The manager (not sure if he is the owner) was the only person attending to us and it actually took them a while to serve our orders. I figured they must not have fully ramped up since they are still relatively new.

We ordered their set meals with come with rice, vegetables, side dish, steamed soup, drinks and dessert (Konyaku jelly). For drinks, there is a choice of Milk Pearl Tea, White Coffee, Plum Juice etc.

Mini Steamboat (RM21.90)

Taiwan Claypot Fish (RM18.90)

Chicken Rice in Barrel (RM14.90)

Ba Wang Claypot Noodles (with choice of prawn, squid or fish) RM13.90

Milk Tea & White Coffee

Overall the set meals were not bad. The Claypot Fish was a tad too sweet else the ginger and rice wine combination would have been great. The Mini Steamboat came with a lot of ingredients and was value for money.

We also ordered their House Specialty which is the "Coffin" (RM7.90). I know the name of the dish sounds scary but it does literally mean the coffin!!! The Coffin is actually made of french loaf with baked cheese and seafood stuffing. It's quite ingenious of them to come up with such a dish and it did taste quite okay :)

Swens Homemade Cake

Swens Homemade Cake makes some of the most beautiful wedding cakes in Penang. The man behind all these beautiful cakes is Swens Wong who has been in this business, together with his wife, for 10 years now. He operates from his home at Taman Sin Chor Chit Apartment, Block 10-G-2.

Check out Swens' blog at http://swenscake.blogspot.com/ and you will be overwhelmed by the variety of cakes that Swens and his wife have created over the years. Their specialty is wedding cakes but they are also famous for their 'Creativity" range of cakes and their fruit cakes.

According to Swens, they can customize the wedding cakes based on your request and fancy so just let your imagination and creativity decide .

Recently, I ordered a "Black & White" cake from their "Creativity" range. Swens highly recommended this sellout cake of his. The cake may look small for a 1kg and sound expensive at RM90 but it is definitely worth it because it was very compact and full of chocolate. The chocolate brownie cake was very moist and the flower petals are made from white chocolate. The blue chocolate at the side are coloured with natural food coloring. The result was a beautiful and chic cake that was also yummy at the same time.

They are currently renovating their new showroom next to their house so customers can view their work and they can discuss about the design of the cake they want in a nice and comfortable setting.

Goh Teo Kee Takeaway

We oredered takeway from Goh Teo Kee for a private birthday celebration at home recently for 10 pax.

Stir Fried Brocolli with Mushroom and Scallop RM40

Lam Mee RM24

Garlic Prawns RM50

Fried Chicken RM35

Fried Rice RM16

I was impressed with the big plastic containers that the dishes were packed in. Overall food was good but we felt that the Stir Fried Brocolli with Mushroom and Scallop was a bit expensive at RM40 given the small serving. Anyway, I guess we can't complain as the dish came with sizeable scallops.
