Tsuruya Japanese Restaurant

Tsuruya Japanese Restaurant is quite an established restaurant in Penang and has its fair share of regulars in the Bayan Lepas area. It's original restaurant is located at I-Avenue and it now has a branch at e-Gate and a sister restaurant at Queensbay Mall, the Tsurukame Shabu Shabu Restaurant.

We haven't been to Tsuruya for a while now and were impressed with how the restaurant was jam packed on a Saturday night. The decor is tasteful with some Balinese influence, which is quite unique for a Japanese restaurant. Seating arrangement is partly Japanese traditional tatami seating with raised floor.

They have quite a good selection and variety in their menu.

Chawan Mushi

Bento A (Kaki Guratan, Tsuruya Special Maki, Zaru Soba, Sashimi) - RM54

Bento B (Ebi Tempura, Unagi Kabayaki, Sashimi, Gohan) - RM48

We ordered two of their most expensive bentos but I have to say the servings were fairly generous. Bento A is rather unique with my favourite cold soba and sizeable cheese baked oysters.

Macha Ice Cream (RM5.50)

I had a very bad experience here. I told myself, I wont be going back there again. Service is poor... we ordered the food, took us an hour, the food is not served. We highlighted to a manager, the manager don't even bother to expedite the food for the customers.
