Gertak Sanggul Fishing Stage @ Seafood Restaurant (revisited)

If you recall from my previous post on this place, hubs and I would normally recommend the Gertak Sanggul Fishing Stage if someone is looking for a seafood restaurant in Gertak Sanggul or Teluk Kumbar.

This is a seafood restaurant cum fishing stage or pond. It is a pay-to-fish saltwater pond with a restaurant so it is quite interesting to see people fishing while you eat.

The location can be a bit far off (at the very end of Gertak Sanggul, even after Hai Boey) but the seafood is worth the long drive.

"Helicopter Snail" (I'm not sure what the actual name for this snail is but that's how I will normally order it :)

"Kam Heong Kappa"

Deep Fried Mantis Prawn with Dried Chili

"Ma La" Claypot Chicken

The "Ma La" Claypot Chicken was not too spicy and I have to say that it was quite special. I would highly recommended this if you wish to order a chicken dish.

Hunan Meat

The restaurant owner recommended this meat dish but I didn't quite get the name. I think it was some Hunan meat. The meat texture was quite special and the sauce was close to a sweet and sour sauce.

Steamed Red Snapper Thai Style

We practically licked the plate clean. I loved the sour Thai style soup. Very appetizing indeed.

Steamed Prawns with Egg White and Rice Wine

This is one of our all-time favourites at this restaurant. The steamed egg white was extremely smooth and the zest of rice wine added much flavour to the prawns and egg.

Salted Egg Crab

A must-order at this place. The best Salted Egg Crab I have tasted so far. Unlike other restaurants where they deep fry the salted egg with the crab thus leaving the crab dry, I think what they did here was to stir fry the salted egg 'gravy' with the deep fried crab. Yummy!

Deep Fried Squid

The total bill came to RM265 including two vegetable dishes and a Stir Fried "Mee Tiao". The price was very reasonable given the number of dishes and serving size.

Please try to go earlier as the establishment can be a bit shorthanded so the waiting time is normally quite unbearable around dinner or peak time. This place is open air (with the option to sit in an air-conditioned room) so you may want to bring mosquito repellant in case of mosquitoes when it gets darker.

Thanks for the compliments. It normally depends on the camera we use. Sometimes when we use my old point-and-shoot, the photos come out not as great. It makes a big difference when we use our Canon 500D. Lighting plays a part as well. P/S: My hubby takes most of the better photos :)

By the way, the seafood served here is really good so you should definitely give it a try. Let me know if you need instructions as it can be a bit far off.

Any landmarks or signboards to let me know I'm heading in the correct direction. Planning to go there tomorrow if weather permits :)

If you are familiar with Teluk Kumbar, just take the route to Hai Boey and go straight after you pass Hai Boey. You may refer to the following link on Wikimapia for direction. Hope this helps and enjoy the seafood :)

I'm not familiar with Teluk Kumbar or Hai Boey. Now that you've mentioned it, will add Hai Boey to my "To try" list.

Thanks for the tip. We kept an eye on the road sign boards and managed to not miss the junction heading to Gertak Sanggul :D

The moment we reached the place, the sky came down .. aye ..

Glad that you found the place but sorry to hear that it poured as soon as you got there. Must be quite messy as the place is partly open air. How did you like the seafood?

By the way, check out my next post on Hai Boey soon since you plan to go there next. :)

i think the dish that's shown on the picture is called hunan shreded pork ,i had it a couple times and it was totally marvelous and as to thai's style(tomyam)fish it's probably ok but no match for steamed nonya flavor fish dish,i totally fall for it the minute after i tasted the gravy,i frequented haiboi seafood place but subsequently gave up on it for its servers' attitude and the overpriced dishes, now i become a regular customer of the GS restaurant.
