The interesting thing about Joez coconuts is the jelly inside the coconut instead of coconut water. This special coconut jelly is the creation of Joel Jeyachandran, and his parents, Mazivanan and Kalyani.
The jelly is smooth and sweet to taste and if you are lucky you get lots of coconut flesh to go with the jelly. It is an ideal cooling drink on a hot day.
"There is also a secret ingredient involved which he would not divulge, although he was willing to reveal that the young coconut is baked whole, pasteurising it to the point where all the bacteria is killed but the natural sweet liquid doesn’t boil, thus ensuring the taste remains as pure as possible." The coconut jelly retails at RM3.70 and if kept refrigerated, has a shelf life of about a week.
